This week's prayer suggestions

This week, please pray...

  • for the well-being of the Church and the unity of God’s people; that all Christians might live as brothers and sisters in God’s world;
  • for all who are called to ministry in the Church; that God will confirm their calling and equip them in every way to serve Him;
  • for all those who have been (or were due to be) ordained this weekend; that God will equip them and fill them with His Holy Spirit for the work He has called them to do;
  • for those who lead us; that God will guide, strengthen and protect them; inspire them; make them bold for Him; give them wisdom; and fill them with love for the people they serve here in Cromer;
  • for the sick and the dying; that they might know God’s love, and find comfort, healing and wholeness in Him;
  • for those who are denied the freedoms that we take for granted; that they might find liberty and the freedom that the gospel alone can bring.

The Lord's Prayer (Contemporary)

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.

The Lord's Prayer (Traditional)

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.

A Prayer for the Church

O God, in whose sovereign power rests everything in heaven and earth, take hold of your church today that, in every parish in this Diocese, we may be led humbly in the paths of holiness and boldly in the ways of witness, that many may be found as new disciples of Jesus Christ and learn to live joyfully in the power of your Holy Spirit. Amen.
