2009 lay doorThe large doors of the church, open today, are a symbol of a God who welcomes each one of us into his presence.

As you enter this place of prayer, worship and reflection, why not think about God’s presence, and thank God that he is here?

From the Bible...

‘Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise, give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever.’ Psalm 100:4-5

A prayer…

Thank you, God, that you are here. Thank you that you know who I am and welcome me.

The Lord's Prayer (Contemporary)

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.

The Lord's Prayer (Traditional)

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.

A Prayer for the Church

O God, in whose sovereign power rests everything in heaven and earth, take hold of your church today that, in every parish in this Diocese, we may be led humbly in the paths of holiness and boldly in the ways of witness, that many may be found as new disciples of Jesus Christ and learn to live joyfully in the power of your Holy Spirit. Amen.
