Welcome. Church is not just for Sunday...

God's people and God's presence are in our midst all day and every day. The life of the Church is expressed through the Christian lives of its members and, as we tried to show in our 2010 Summer Exhibition, it's not just for Sunday. Explore this online version of that exhibition to see why, then use the images and the activities they represent as prompts for your own prayers... or come and join in with what you see. You're always welcome!

Please note: these materials were created in 2010 and some of the details have changed since then.  In particular, the 10.30 service is now at 10.45; the Good Friday Walk of Witness has been replaced by the Passion Play; SWELS, 'Pause for thought', 'Sunday Club Youth', the Pier Forecourt Service and PlusOne no longer run or have transformed into other events.  None of this will affect the way you use these pages to support your prayers, but please check the website, particularly the 'Events' pages, before coming along for a particular event or activity.

The Lord's Prayer (Contemporary)

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.

The Lord's Prayer (Traditional)

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.

A Prayer for the Church

O God, in whose sovereign power rests everything in heaven and earth, take hold of your church today that, in every parish in this Diocese, we may be led humbly in the paths of holiness and boldly in the ways of witness, that many may be found as new disciples of Jesus Christ and learn to live joyfully in the power of your Holy Spirit. Amen.
