Sunday 22nd December is the 4th Sunday of Advent, which means Christmas is almost here. We hope you've enjoyed counting down the days with the help of your Advent calendar or Advent candle. The birth of Jesus was a really momentous event so, as we continue to anticipate His birth and prepare for His return in glory, please pray...

  • Eternal God, as Mary waited for the birth of your Son, so we wait for his coming in glory; bring us through the birth pangs of this present age to see, with her, our great salvation in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
  • Heavenly Father, who chose the Blessed Virgin Mary to be the mother of the promised saviour: fill us your servants with your grace, that in all things we may embrace your holy will and with her rejoice in your salvation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We're having two Christingle services again this year.  They're both on Christmas Eve in the Parish Church. The first starts at 2.30 p.m. and the second at 4.30 p.m. Doors open half-an-hour before the service starts and, to keep things safe and enjoyable for everyone, numbers are strictly limited to 450 at each service. These are simple services, suitable for all ages, to celebrate the Christmas story, and we invite you bring the children (or come yourself) dressed as shepherds, Wise Men, angels or farm animals so that we can re-enact the story of the first Christmas. Family Carols, a special carol service designed with families in mind, takes place on Sunday 22nd December at 4.00 p.m. at St Martin's and everyone is welcome. Why not come along and join in? It's suitable for young children and is followed by a family tea. pdf Download the invitation postcard or sign-up here. #followthestar

Sunday 15th December is the 3rd Sunday of Advent. So, we're two weeks into the Advent journey - just one more Sunday to go - and we hope you've been enjoying opening your Advent calendar or lighting your Advent candle and looking forward to the big day. As we continue to anticipate the coming of Jesus at Christmas and prepare for His return in glory, please pray...

  • We give you thanks, O Lord, for Your heavenly gifts; kindle in us the fire of your Spirit that when your Christ comes again we may shine as lights before his face; who is alive and reigns now and for ever. Amen.
  • God for whom we watch and wait, you sent John the Baptist to prepare the way of your Son: give us courage to speak the truth, to hunger for justice, and to suffer for the cause of right, with Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Carols@Christmas, our traditional carol service, is on Sunday 15th December at 6.30 p.m. in the Parish Church.  Carols@Christmas explores the story and the importance of Jesus' birth through traditional Bible readings, carols for choir and congregation and a Christmas message. Refreshments are served after the service, so there's a chance to stay and chat while enjoying the atmosphere of Cromer's historic Parish Church specially lit for Christmas. See you there?! #followthestar
