Cromer Scripture Union Beach Mission
Beach Mission runs for the two weeks leading up to Cromer Carnival Week and is run entirely by volunteers, many of them from the local churches, supported by Scripture Union
. The first Beach Mission took place in Cromer in the 1880s and a team has returned almost every summer since.
This year's Mission begins on Monday 5th August and runs until Friday 16th August and the theme - inspired by the account of Jesus' life recorded in John's gospel - is 'Awesome!' Beach Mission has something for everyone between the ages of 3 and 103, is free to attend and - over the years - has been the start of lifelong friendships and the beginning of active Christian faith for many, many people of all ages.
We're working on the programme and publicty for this summer, but the 2012 materials are still available from the Beach Mission website
so you can see what to expect - and what you missed! We're continuing to build on last year's successful changes so. in addition to all the usual activities and events (download
the 2012 programme to see what they are), we're plannng a Circus Skills workshop and again plan to open Mission Café every weekday during Mission, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. in the servery area at the back of the Parish Church.
There are some pictures in our Gallery, and more pictures
and further information
on the Beach Mission website. You can also contact Scripture Union
for information about volunteering or contact us for further details about Mission.
