When his disciples asked Jesus, "Teach us to pray," this is what he taught them. Christians throughout the centuries have used 'The Lord's Prayer' in their prayers, and as a pattern for prayer. Many learn it by heart, and use it as part of their prayer routine, as well as turning to it at times of great need when other words just won't come.

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
