Church Pastoral Aid Society (CPAS) enables churches to help every person hear and discover the good news of Jesus Christ. Their vision states: "We are committed to mission and equipping churches for their God-given task of evangelism. We believe the most strategic way for us to help churches become more mission-focused is by developing effective leadership."
Last November, James Lawrence, who heads up the CPAS leadership development team, came and preached at the Parish Church. For one member of the congregation, James’ visit had special significance as Andrew Bennett felt challenged to get personally involved in the work of CPAS. As a youngster he had been taken by his Godfather on a Ventures Cruise on the Norfolk Broads. James’s sermon sparked off God’s call to Andrew to become a leader himself on a CPAS camp, bringing things full circle.
So, Andrew is going to join the team leading the Pathfinder Venture at Sizewell Hall in Leiston, Suffolk. This is for 11-14 year olds and runs from 27th July to 3rd August. The main aim is to help the youngsters meet with Jesus and to discover his plans for their lives, but there are also all sorts of exciting activities on offer. Pray for energy for Andrew as he works in the kitchen, trying to keep the hungry campers fed!
He’s also asked us to pray for safety for the youngsters on all the activities, and that he’ll be able to build good relationships with them and can help them to get to know Jesus better. Andrew has to finance his place on the team so pray that God will supply all that he needs.
As you pray for Andrew, do also remember all the Ventures and Falcon Camps that are being planned for the summer and pray that the 4000-plus youngsters who attend them will discover more of God’s amazing love for them.
The work of CPAS is our particular focus in the months of May and November, and is championed by Liz Whitaker.
