New initiatives for September

New initiatives for September

Café Church at St Martin's on the fourth Sunday of the month. We’re keen to try this different form of service and outreach.

Light Break Café on Tuesdays from 8.45 a.m. to 10 a.m. at St Martin's will provide an opportunity for those dropping off children at Suffield Park (and others) to stop for a chat and refreshments.

A new group for those in school years 4, 5 and 6 to build on the success of 'Plus One'. This (as yet unnamed) group is for those young people that we are already in contact with, plus their friends. 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month from 4.30 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. in the Parish Hall.

Two 'new' names on the team. We're delighted that after being with us for the last six months or so Sue Wells is now officially one of our Readers (having had her licence transferred from Peterborough diocese) and that Jonny Bell has agreed to become our first apprentice for the next year, giving us a year of his life in return for experience of being part of the leadership here in Cromer. We're looking forward to all that both of them will bring.

It's very exciting. Please pray for all these initiatives and the people that will be involved!

Fourth Wednesday Church Night is an opportunity to come together as a Church Family to worship, share and pray. (To make this possible there are no Small Group meetings this week.)

Harvest Services

Sunday 26th September

9.00 a.m. - Harvest Communion at the Parish Church
10.30 a.m. - All-Age Harvest Thanksgiving at the Parish Church
10.30 a.m. - Café Church at St Martin's

Archdeacon John Ashe will also be with us that day. He is speaking at 9.00 and 10.30 at the Parish Church and is being interviewed at the 6.30 p.m. service, also at the Parish Church. At all services there will be an opportunity to give financially to Tear Fund's Pakistan appeal or to donate non‑perishable goods for the Canaan Christian Centre in Sheringham.

Summer Baptisms

On Sunday, Anthon, Kerry Ann, Heather, Benjamin and Maddy were baptised, or renewed their baptismal vows, in the North Sea!

This was a great occasion, and very moving.  Please continue to support and pray for these members of our church family who have taken this important, public step of faith.

Tear Fund

In early August, Tearfund launched an emergency appeal for Pakistan's floods. "The situation is dire," says Ashraf Mall, Tearfund's representative in Pakistan. "To date, twenty million people have been affected by the floods, 1,600 people have died and now cholera is becoming widespread."

Umer Hazrat was awakened by the power of the rising flood water. He and his family escaped the flood waters and...

Bible Motto 2010

praise_hands"And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."

Our 2010 Bible motto is taken from Acts 2:47 and reminds us that, as a Christian church family, we exist to worship a loving God; to express that love in Christian community; to draw people to Jesus; to build them up as His followers, and to equip them for service for the good of the world.

In brief

Confirmation is the Anglican Church's way of affirming baptismal promises - often made on our behalf by our parents when we were babies - in our own right as an adult. If baptism or confirmation is something you are considering, please contact the Vicar to talk it over.
